Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) has emerged as one of the leading business and economic issues of our time. With the focus of outsourcing moving from non-critical support to core and critical business processes, it has also become an increasingly important and complex issue for both the sourcing as well as the service-provider organizations. Unfortunately, most studies of BPO, whether by academics or by practitioners/ consultants, have focused only on one of the two sides of BPO business - either the client side or the service-provider side. This book describes a study of the BPO sector from a strategic perspective, focusing on both the BPO client as well as the service-providers. It describes the management competencies as well as the relationship management issues which need to be addressed to build a strategic partnership between the client and the service-provider, and thus bring the benefits of BPO to both of them. The book is intended for practicing managers who are involved with the BPO activities in a client or service-provider organizations, and will help them formulate and implement successful BPO strategies for gaining strategic benefits. It is based on a study of European BPO clients and Indian service-providers conducted during 2005-2006, which was funded by Commission for European Communities.
